A Candle loses nothing of it's light by lighting another candle!
Aims and Objectives:
One of the main aims and objectives of the Society is to care and assist those
in need of help. The Society has helped not only it's members but also those who have asked for help whether
it be housing, immigration matters, social matters etc. We have also financially helped organisations in Burma who care for the
poor and needy. These organisations have in turn assisted the very poor in Burma by; - caring for poor senior citizens.
- providing
the very poor and forgotten people, who have lost loved ones due to infectious diseases, with basic food items and low
cost housing.
- opening a Hospice and caring for
the very sick who need tender loving care in the twilight of their lives.
- providing
furniture to an orphanage for use in class rooms.
- funding a nutritional programme
for the needy.
- helping children who unfortunately have become orphans because
of Cyclone Nargis
- helping and funding the poor Anglo Burmese, who have no relatives
overseas to help them financially.
Since 1999, as a registered Charity,
the Society has provided assistance to charitable organisations in Burma. The first organisation to receive help was the U
Hla Tun Cancer Hospice. Funds were sent initially to help with building costs and later for patient care. As the
Hospice is now well established it is no longer supported but other organisations in Burma are now assisted. They are an
orphanage in Hmawbi, National YWCA Hospital Nutrition Programme, St Mary's Orphanage, Theinlar, Myaungmya District and
Survival Aid Project for Vulnerables in Yenangyaung. The
aim of the Society is to help people become self-reliant so that they can continue to survive by themselves and depend
less on others. At Hmawbi, the Society set up a small poultry farm and market garden. This we
believe will assist the people to be self-reliant and make progress.
